One of SSI’s core business activities is in the area of property development with a lean to hold most key projects within the Group as an Investment Strategy to add to its extensive property portfolio. SSI has an in-house development team whose directive is acquisition project conception, plan creation in conjunction with architects, project analysis, obtaining DA and BA approvals, construction and subcontracting. SSI sources development sites throughout the country with strategic links with key major real estate and property consultants and looks at every project on a stand alone basis. Sites are purchased based on a number of parameters but prime position, size and cost analysis being the prime indices. Some sites are land banked for future development but the Groups aim is that sites have a development window of between 18 months and three years.
